Lake Nona High baseball lost to Montverde Academy 9 to 1. Softball lost 6 to 5 in a match up with Pembroke Pines Charter. Kennedy McQuillan went 3-for-3 with a home run, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBIs for the Lions. Vianni Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a double. Boy’s lacrosse fell 8 to 4 against Timber Creek. Boys volleyball blanked St. Cloud 3 to 0.

Both girls and boys water polo teams captured district titles. Boys beat Venice 10 to 9. Girls over Windermere 18 to 1.

Rays won there MLB season opener over the Tigers 4 to 0. Pitcher Shane McClanahan yielded 4 hits in 6 shutout innings. Marlins fell to the Mets 5 to 3.

Tomorrow Miami meets Connecticut in the mens basketball Final Four on CBS at 9 PM. Florida Atlantic takes on San Diego State at 6 PM. Florida is only the 3rd state in 30 years to send two programs to the semifinals.

NASCAR is on the short track at Richmond on Sunday for the Toyota Owners 400.

Tonight at 7 PM, Magic travel to DC to take on the Wizards.

The 2 and 2 and 1 Orlando City host Nashville who are looking for their first road goal.

Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Capitals 5 to 1 with 2 goals from Pat Maroon.

In the PGA, round one of the Valero Open was suspended due to fog. They resume today with Justin Lower leading at 5 under. LPGA is Palo Verdes California this weekend. LIV Golf is at Orange County National this weekend.

Lake Nona High has hired Coach Aubrey as the Lion’s football head coach. Coach Aubrey has coached in Osceola and Orange county with 7 state championships including one in football.

Today’s roster includes girls lacrosse at home against Lake Howell at 5 PM. Softball is on the road at the First Academy at 6 PM. Boys volleyball at New Hope United Methodist taking on the Tampa Bay HEAT at 6:30. Baseball is away at The First Academy at 7 PM.

Tonight the Magic take on the Wizards at 7 PM.

Tampa Bay Lightning face the Canadiens at 7 PM.

Marlins lost the Cardinals 5 to 0, Rays fell to the Braves 6 to 5.

Most March Madness brackets broken on day one with a 59 to 55 win for Princeton over #2 seeded Arizona. Furman shocked Virginia with a 68 to 67 victory. Other winners include Alabama, Kansas, Houston, Tennessee, and UCLA. Today Michigan State faces USC among the 16 first round match ups.

For the first time since 2010 and the second time in the program, UCF men’s basketball beat the Gators. The Knights routed the University of Florida 67 to 49 Wednesday night. Their reward is a second-round matchup in the NIT against Oregon on Sunday on ESPN at 7:30.

NASCAR Cup Series heads to Atlanta on Sunday for the Ambetter Health 400.

It came down to the wire, but the Magic came up short despite big numbers from Markelle Fultz, 25 points and 7 rebounds. Final score 116 to 113.

Orlando City host Charlotte tomorrow night at 7:30.

Steven Stamkos delivered a big game for the Lightning with 2 goals and 1 assist in the 4 to 3 win over the Devils.

Rays blanked the Twins 2 to 0, and beat the Braves 5 to 1.

In First Four action yesterday, Pittsburgh over Mississippi State 60 to 59. Texas A&M over SE Missouri State 75 to 71. Tonight Texas Southern takes on Fair Dickinson. Nevada faces Arizona State.

Paolo Banchero’s 27 points last night could not cool San Antonio’s hot streak of 22 3’s as the Magic lose 132 to 114. Heat host the Grizzlies tonight at 7:30.

Tonight is round two of the Concacaf Champions League as the Orlando City face Tigres without their star Andre’-Pierre Gignac. Catch tonight’s matchup at Exploria Stadium on FS2 at 8:15.

Brandon Hagel had a big game for the Lightning with a goal and 2 assists for a 4 to 1 win over the Devils.

In spring training, Rays 7 to 4 over the Twins. Marlins blanked the Astros 1 to 0.

Looking at Lake Nona High softball, Foundation Academy blanked the Lions 5 to 0. Boys lacrosse beat Freedom 16 to 1. Girls lacrosse beat St. Cloud 12 to 8.

Today boys and girls water polo travel to Winter Park. First matchup at 6 PM. Baseball hosts Harmony High at 7 PM.

UCF women’s basketball led by double digits in the first half and went into the last quarter with a lead, but the Knights only scored 12 points and lost 48 to 46 against Memphis in the AAC tournament yesterday.

In Orlando City’s first match in the Concacaf Champions League last night, they played to a scoreless draw in the Round of 16 in Monterrey, Mexico. March 15th the return leg will be played at Exploria Stadium.

Solid shooting from the Bucks led to a 134 to 123 victory over the Magic last night. Heat hosts the Cav’s tonight.

Killom and Kucherov tallied 3 points for the Lightning in a 5 to 2 win over the Flyers.

Rays over the Phillies in MLB spring training. Marlins lost to the Nationals 5 to 3.

Lake Nona has a new state champion, Lake Nona High sophomore Milana Borrelli took the state wrestling championship on Saturday in her individual weight class. Overall Lake Nona ranked 17th.

Boys track and field ranked 3rd at the Harmony Invitational with Kristopher Ratcliff leading the 100 meter. Dylan Torres led the 1600 and 3200 meters. Lake Nona also came in number 1 on the 400 relay with Charles Gilmore, Georian Timmons, Dylan Torres and Dillion Jones.

Girls track and field came in 2nd overall. Emma Morris took the 100 meter.

Boca Raton broke the girl’s water polo streak with a 10 to 8 defeat. They also lost to West Orange 4 to 3.

Baseball is at Mount Dora Christian Academy tonight at 7.

Kurt Kitayama parred the final hold to win by 1 stroke with 9 under at Bay Hill. Japan’s Jin Young Ko won the HSBC Women’s World Championship with 17 under par.

UCF mens basketball won their last regular season homestand against East Carolina 84 to 58. They take on SMU on Thursday in round one of the AAC Championship. Gators beat LSU 79 to 67. They take on Mississippi State on Thursday in round one of the SEC Championship.

William Byron won the NASCAR Cup Series Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas.

The Trail Blazers Damian Lillard had 41 points in a 122 to 119 win over the Magic. Heat take on the Hawks tonight.

The Hurricanes blanked the Lightning 6 to 0 in Raleigh in NHL action last night.

Rays lost to the Orioles 5 to 2 in Spring Training. Dave Wills, the radio voice of the Tampa Bay Rays passed away unexpectedly yesterday morning at the age of 58.
